Roslyn G. Burroughs,
MA, LMHC, CMC
Care Manager Certified
Roz Burroughs provided case management services at Aging and Disability Services from 1985 to 1989. From 1980 to 1985, she worked as a therapist at Mental Health Services in Snohomish County and Clinical Supervisor of their In-home Geriatric Program. In 1987, Roz utilized her depth of experience in working with the elderly to co-found one of the state's largest guardianship firms, Partners In Care, where she served as Executive Director until 2000. Over the years in that role, Roz advanced the practice of fiduciary services by developing tools for functional assessment and care plans, advocating for the practice of respecting the assisted person's residual capacity, and promoting development of standards for professional fiduciaries. As indicated by the name of the firm she founded, Roz developed a style for working with those who had the incapacitated person's trust, in co-guardianship roles.
From 2000 to 2007, Roz worked on assignment with Seattle King County Aging and Disability Services providing case management services to people age 60 and older who had multiple needs requiring a comprehensive assessment, care planning and advocacy for services. Roz also continued to consult with Partners In Care on client care issues as well as care management ethics and standards.
Roz returns to the fiduciary services field by joining Ohana as a Care Manager certified by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers. She provides essential peer reviews of care management reports; consultations on complicated care issues, most specifically to encourage application of the highest and best standards of practice to the situation; and direction for enhanced services, such as development of disaster readiness plans customized to each client's needs.
In addition to her Master of Arts degree in Education/Gerontology from The University of Michigan, and her Specialist In Aging Certificate from The University of Michigan's Institute of Gerontology, Roz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (2001 - present) and is credentialed as a Geriatric Mental Health Specialist (1983) in Washington State. Roz has rejoined the National Association of Professional Care Managers since receiving her certification as a Care Manger from the National Academy of Certified Care Managers.
Roz became a Certified Professional Guardian at the inception of the certification program. During her years as a professional guardian, she was a member of the Washington State and National Guardianship Associations.
From 1992-1999, Roz participated in several Guardian ad Litem continuing education programs. In 1999 she was a contributor, work group chair and editor of the Model Guardian ad Litem Training Program.
