Chris Marx has worked with older adults in a variety of capacities for over 30 years. She began her career in the field of aging while still in college working as a community aide for low income disabled elders, providing vital services to help them remain in their own homes. After college she became a homecare supervisor, hiring, training and supervising caregivers working with disabled and elderly clients. Chris served for several years as an advocate with Senior Services of Seattle/King County, and she managed an adult day care program for frail elders.
For 18 years Chris worked for RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, a national program locally administered in communities throughout the US that recruits people 55 and older to volunteer in a broad spectrum of community service activities. She first served as a coordinator, then as the director in King County. Under Chris' leadership the King County RSVP had over 2000 senior volunteers serving in more than 140 public and non-profit agencies.
Chris applied her interest in antiques and collectables as the proprietor of a vintage goods shop. After closing the store in the summer of 2007, Chris worked as a full-time caregiver for three elderly people, and began to work part time with Ohana as a contract care manager.
Now a full time care manager with Ohana, Chris manages all client care issues, develops the care plans, prepares court reports on the person's status, participates in financial planning for the clients to ensure that personal needs are factored into the plan, communicates with family members, arranges for ancillary services beneficial to the client, and advocates in the legal and care community for the unique needs and preferences of our clients. Additionally, she participates in the process of inventorying our clients' personal possessions.
Chris has a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a certificate in Aging Studies from the Institute on Aging at the University of Washington.
Chris has served on the Board of Directors of the Wallingford Senior Center, the Adult Day Care Alliance of Seattle/King County and the Eastside Adult Day Center.
